Hi Steemians,
I have been wanting to post this blog since morning but suddenly I received a phone call from Global Reach (the education agency that I am using right now to process my documents for visa application as I plan to further my studies). They informed me that my visa has been approved for Australia and out of happiness, I ended up calling all my family members who had been giving me encouragement when I thought I might not be getting visa as it was already 5th week of my process. We were all so excited and ending up with 2 hours of video chat (well you must do video chat when your 2 sisters and mum is already in Australia).
Afternoon approached and I was busy with the education agency, banks and inquiring with the travel agency about the air fare to Brisbane, Australia. Came home another 2 hours of video chat about when I should come, where we would tour etc.
Finally, dinner is over and here I am sitting with my laptop once again…. So, back to where we left in my previous blog:
Has anyone of you been a victim of yo-yo diet?
_First of all, what is yo-yo diet? And what does it do to your body? _
Yo-yo diet is a constant losing and gaining of weight and when this takes place, your body could be damaged in long-term before you even realize. Some of us don’t even realize if we are a yo-yo dieter, how do we know if we are yo-yo dieter? If you constantly keep changing your diet after some time and keep losing weight but after some time gain back over and over, then you are a yo-yo dieter. If you are part of this diet group, my advice to you is to stop what you are doing right now as it is not healthy at all, not only that, this kind of yo-yo diet can prevent you from losing weight.
Being a yo-yo dieter and acknowledging it, is nothing to be ashamed of, just make sure you realize your dieting pattern ASAP before it is too late and further damage is done to your body. To tell the truth, I was also a yo-yo dieter in my teen days.
After completing my secondary school, I decided that I should try to lose weight, as most of my friends were already in a relationship and due to my lack of confidence in myself, I never had the courage to talk to any guys and neither did they notice me because of my weight. I tried all kind of diet that would have helped me in losing weight.
I thought as long as I skip meals, I would be able to lose weight (But skipping meals meant eating more in my next meals or end up getting up in the middle of the night out of hunger and sneaking to eat unhealthily), I even went for only salad diet (I am a meat-lover and going on this diet was my biggest mistake because after starving myself with salads for a week and losing some pounds off my body, the next week I would end up eating more meat than ever, as I had missed the proper non-vegetarian meals that I always used to have in my life).
Not only did I try skipping meals and eating salads, I even hit gym to help me lose weight. My first week of gym was a success. I spent 1 hours in the gym running (let’s just say jogging because I was just doing 3.5 miles an hour). But hitting the gym every day after class for an hour, made my body tired and I ended up being lazier than I was in the past, as MY BODY WAS YELLING FOR REST.
The more my diets failed, the more depressed I became (especially when my girlfriends were now hanging out with their boyfriends on weekends, I was sitting in my house with a tub of ice-cream and watching romantic movies). Ups and Downs of numbers on the weighing machine whenever I stood on it, made me want to shut all curtains down, lie on bed and cover myself with blanket
As depressed as I was feeling at that moment, my stubborn natured attitude was double the time higher, due to that,_ I refused to give up_ and continue with my on-going yo-yo diets. Tried almost all diets, just to lose pounds of my body.
As you can see from the pictures, YO-YO dieting does help you to lose but it does harm to your body in the long-run. So, how do you know if you are a yo-yo dieter?????
Look for the following signs that I mentioned above, which are:
• skipping meals meant eating more in my next meals
• I even went for only salad diet (I am a meat-lover)
• MY BODY WAS YELLING FOR REST.
• Depressed
• sitting in my house with a tub of ice-cream
• Ups and Downs of numbers on the weighing machine
Do you realize how tempting a yo-yo diet can be as it helps you to lose weight but those weight loss is only short-lived as you would be gaining back those weight in no time. So, Please try to look out for signs, as I mentioned about, to help you identify that you are a yo-yo dieter and stop what you are doing right now.
Take some to evaluate your weight loss process Steemians, it can help you in long-term.
