The old joke is that cats are so smart and if they had thumbs they would rule the world.... but since they have no thumbs to open the cat food cans, they keep us humans around to be their servants.....
Well, Mr. Ernie (short for Ernest Hemingway, you get the idea?) here HAS thumbs and uses them to pick up toys and hold onto things....
