The dream of being able to work with wood has been with me for many years now. I have to assume that Making something from wood with your own hands is definitely one of the most rewarding things in the world. I got to taste a bit of that reward by helping my woodworker friend “Sasan”.
We’ve been doing many things in order for the resort to get a better and more appealing look and atmosphere. Sasan has been working on how to bring that classic traditional vibe with fixing, and creating stuff using old wooden doors (I’ll have a post on that as well.)
Since I really want to know how to work with wood, he let me help him yesterday. 🙂
At first, I thought I’d be helping him by handing him the equipment he needed. But he had something else in mind. He started teaching me by letting me work on one of the tasks.
I got nervous all of a sudden. This was a good thing and it was what I needed after all. So I put my head into the learning before I touch the hammer.
The sitting beds were unstable and a third foot had to be installed on each side of the 4 beds. So, Sasan taught me the techniques to do that task. I had to make sure that I use the wood adhesive before drilling the wood. I also learned how to hit with the hammer, and all about the hand placements for safety purposes.
And I should say, in theory it was pretty understandable and smooth, but not in the real action.
Sasan handed me the materials and got back to his other project. And I had to put all the information into work and action.
The first hammer hits were not that successful. I wasn’t making the hole deep enough for the nail, so when I hit the nail with hammer, the nail had a tendency to bend and not go in. Sasan had to come back and give me the corrections, and they helped.
I got to finish the feet and above all, there was minimal error when we put them up. I was really happy for getting the first knowledge about woodwork.
I’m sure this wouldn’t be my last time working with wood.
I’m very thankful for Sasan!
Thank you for reading this!
Peace! 💚
