Hello to all music and art lovers in general, who share their experiences and tastes through this interesting community.
For me, music has always been present, even inside my mother's belly, although at that time pre-natal stimulation was still unknown, but still, thanks to my father's varied tastes, I got the best possible.
My father was a lover of Mexican music, although he was Venezuelan. At some point he even traveled to Mexico, and I can imagine it was one of his dreams come true, although his trip was for work reasons.
At home there is still his huge collection of records, which I was unable to sell or give away, after he passed away, as they represent for me one of the many threads between me and his essence.
On weekends, Dad used to sit next to the jukebox and listen to the songs of Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete, Javier Solis and sometimes, some ballad compilations at Mom's request.
That's how during my gestation process, I started to listen to this kind of music that has been my favorite since I was a little girl (that's my theory about my tastes).
I grew up listening to those songs and now they are part of my repertoire, although my kids look at me strangely when I play them without headphones!
The Beattles and the occasional classic tango repertoire from the voice of Carlos Gardel would sneak into the jukebox that Dad would make up on Sundays. But it was definitely Pedro Infante who was the king of Dad's record collection.
Love songs that I don't know where they took him, but they fed me that illusion of receiving a serenade at the window, just as Infante did in his movies, in which he not only delighted with his vocal qualities, but also with the quality of the actor he was.
I can even hold my father responsible for generating in me, the first "crush" of my life, when I was only 8 years old, although by then, Pedro Infante had already died in a plane crash.
And for those who believe that the Mexican popular genre are only songs destined to heartbreak, here is a sample that refutes that thought.

Quien será - Youtube
Deja que salga la luna - Youtube
Although of course, there are themes that also lead us to think about heartbreak, and that more than one has used as a companion in those moments of loneliness and love breakup, but that I, without having to go through it, I still love.
All there were part of the group of musicians and actors that belong to the golden age of Mexican cinema, since by then the movies used to be recreated with their songs and they participated as actors in the plot, and not only as musicians in part of them.
Of course, the movies were also at home, in VHS format, and I watched them all together with dad. Many times he would pull out trivia on some subject and ask me which movie it belonged to, and I can proudly say that I got it right most of the time.
These memories with him are one of my greatest treasures, strange forms of father-daughter time shared that make him unique and wonderful.
Finally, a sample of his heartbreak songs that I don't recommend listening to if you are going through a situation like that, because you will cry your eyes out.
