Today I was going to talk to you a little about Isabel Allende's masterful work The House of the Spirits, about how despite its magical realism it also had its poetry and so on, but when I entered Facebook, pain invaded me, a pain in my gut that I had never experienced.
First, I tell you that I am from a heroic town called Baire de Santiago de Cuba, where the famous Grito de Baire took place. Now my people are screaming from hunger, darkness, misery, diseases but also from fear.
All of Cuba right now is in protest, lying in the streets, but there are places that do not take these measures of searching underground for the people who are protesting and arresting them for demanding their rights.
They say that in my town they turn on the electricity 3 or 4 hours a day. A town where they don't have street gas or balita, where mothers and grandmothers spend their vision behind four sticks of firewood to make something to eat, what appears.
My town, which was always a conga, a party, joy, of fighting people, today is a lament from end to end. Even so, with hardly any sleep they go to work for the government for a salary that is not even enough for the month's cleaning. Because the dollar is rising, and those who resell food, toiletries and so on are increasing their merchandise since the government "directly" does not sell basic necessities.
Se帽ores, qu茅 violencia! Qu茅 desastre!
As soon as I woke up I saw a mother in a police station screaming on the floor for her son, another narrating how the black boininegros kicked her blinds down and threatened to drag her mother away, police officers being kicked down there in Las Tunas. Gentlemen, what violence! What a disaster! At least, if they cannot solve the situation or resign, let people say what they think, as is legislated, freedom of expression.
Today there are no notes, there is no poetry, there is no House of the Spirits, today I only have sadness in my heart. Today, as Rosa's boyfriend says, "I also had to die a little"
Hugs for all my people, for this great family that is Hive and may God bless you 馃
