Ok, the move is done, but I was in limbo on the change of the closing date of the city house, until yesterday!
I got word from the buyers that we should be good to go next Tuesday. I would like to get this Aquaponics system fully built out so there are no problems for my parents while I'm down on my property. I spec'd out the system based on guidance from my buddy @robbieolson and bought 2 55 gallon cone tanks from a local biodiesel supply company. These will be used as the solids, and media filter swirl tanks of the system.
Gravity will pull the water down from an overflow stand pipe from the main fish tank down to the two filter tanks. You'll see...kinda hard to describe.
I've got the tanks laid out and have scrounged some scrap 3/4 plywood and 2x4 materials together to build a frame for the tanks. It will hold them off the ground and allow me to attach a clean out ball valve. This is done to periodically drain off the solids that will sink to the bottom of the cones from the system. The cones are a bit costly around $145 per tank, but they should be super hands off as far as maintenance.
Here is around 25 lettuce and 75 kale I have sprouting that will be planted in the system.
Check these fresh ripe figs out! About to have figs like crazy! Anyone have any suggestions on a favorite preservation method? Dehydrate, jam, freeze, make fig newton's, etc...?
I will aim to get the frame built tomorrow and post the walkthrough about that part of the build.
