The method is simple, but you need to know a few things about my friend Ed before I share it.
Ed's imagination was pretty wild. You could find him doodling on a napkin while waiting for his lunch, or even staring out our office window. I'd like to begin this brief story about Ed staring out of our office window, and sharing with you what he saw.
Trust me, this story plays a huge part in how you too will be able to memorize 52 shuffled playing cards. The punchline is near, I promise.
Ed had a crush on a lady named Myrtle that stood out in front of the coffee shop. We always pointed out that she was in the business of prostitution because of her frequent in and out of cars. A different car would pull to the end of the corner, she would hop in, and then a few minutes later she would get dropped off. I know, a little judgemental, but her clothing and the same Johns screamed lewd behavior, RED ALERT.
Well this particular day, Ed called me over to the window and asked me a question.
_"Ahmad, do you want to know why I'm always at this window?" _
"YES, I do!!" I exclaimed.
Finally I will share with you Ed's method!!
"Well Ahmad, you know we have a lot of things riding on the success of how we do. We've been stuck in this office training for the United States Memory Championship. My weakest event has been memorizing the 3 decks of shuffled cards. Well, not any longer! I have Myrtle to thank. Ahmad, fill in the blank and Memorize this..."
He unfolded a sheet of worn paper with the following on it:
King — Famous Male duo
Queen — Famous female duo
Jack — Famous Evangelist
10 Mogul Woman
9 Mogul Man
8 Steroid Body Builder Woman
7 Steroid Body Builder Man
6 Sexy females
5 Wild males
4 Top Female movie stars
3 Top Male movie stars
2 Woman in Sports
Ace Man in Sport
Ahmad, for the SUITS think:
Diamonds — wealthy people
Hearts — kind people
Clubs — crazy people
Spades — comedians or funny people
"Ahmad, Myrtle's world is my memory castle. She does the same routine everyday. I place these cards along her route. My game is placing the 52 people along the route."
"Ed. You're crazy. I need some caffeine for this. Let's go say hi to Myrtle."
REFERENCE:
This method was actually found in a great book I read a few years ago. It's titled: Moonwalking with Einsteinby Joshua Foer. It took me two days to memorize the deck in under 2 minutes. I'm a work in progress. I found that the more the characters generate an emotion within you, the more you will remember them. The more wild, sexier, and outrageous you can make the images, the more you will remember them. I use to place all 52 shuffled cards/characters along a path. The path was the route I drove to work, starting from my bedroom to my clients home.
At the time of doing this, I was eating super clean. Similar to all the foods that @owoblow-steemit suggest to eat for sharper memory in this post: Foods That Help Students Improve Their Memory.... Brain/Health Foods For Students
