How often do you think about the people you meet here?

I missed posting on Hive yesterday for the first time in quite a while. Intentionally breaking one of my longest posting streaks while many people are doing a post every day in January.

The reason? Yesterday was my wife's 50th birthday and I felt it more important to be present than pull myself away to have a checkmark in an arbitrary box.

Now I have said that I am sure there are some reading it who think I should have posted regardless.

Well, today my dog is very sick, on IV at the vet. And I am writing this not for that "posting streak" but to distract myself from worry.

And I am sure someone will look at my word count and say that is not good enough, yadda-yada.

Are we really a community or are we a justification of increased coin value?

It's interesting how many people in this community talk about doing things for the good of the community but really just want everyone pitching in to increase the monetary value of the rewards.

One of the key reasons that communities vanish is because they allow the rot to set in. When we put how much someone is financially worth to us over how much we care about people, that is a sure sign things are going to go south, and in a powerful way.

For every rare person who treats others with genuine kindness, there are several more who see every other person as a potential transaction waiting to give forth rewards.

Treat others as you would like to be treated ... because they are you

Hundreds of years ago, philosophers would talk about how we are all connected, or even part of a single organism. Science is starting to show how true that really is. There is in fact no empty space between us, between planets, between galaxies. We really all are star stuff, we really are all connected.

So next time you are thinking of wielding the SHOULD, MUST, and forget the other soul on the end of your communication, take a breath, relax your jaw, and remember your anger will be reflected and magnified.

My new year's resolution was to be more positive. Not feeling it but I will keep working on it. Progress not perfection, eh?
