2022 was a horrible year for my family.

My dad passed away, we lost our family dog Benji who was 14 just before my wife's plane arrived to be with him, and then we sold up and moved from Canada to the UK to be with family and my mother-in-law passed away. There's more but I don't want to depress anyone.

Despite that I did manage to still post 120 times, obviously early in the year before everything went to shit. Averages out as 10 times per month which isn't terrible.

Why am I telling you this? Well, all of this informs my strategy for 2023 and the secret sauce I have mixed in that I don't see anyone else doing.

My strategy for 2022 was, essentially, to post every day.

I even created the Authority Bloggers community for me to share even more articles and help more people become financially better off.

While that worked fine when I was productive and didn't have my mind on the horrors of life, when life happens that all goes down the toilet.

If your main motivation for being in Hive is to earn money or create a community, you must create lots of content.

Thankfully, I also created a WordPress plugin for Hive which paid off for myself and could help you too.

Going forward in 2023

Past history has shown I can't always post every day. Family and my day job has to come first (while I hold on to it anyway).

In 2023 I will create when I can, but focus more on being a part of the community regardless, commenting often. As you can see in my raw stats, I didn't have many conversations in 2022. Even when we can't find time to post we should be able to comment on more days.

I'm also going to keep building my plugin, which is the secret sauce I mentioned.

To get the most benefit out of the posts I do create I need to benefit outside of the one-week payout window. We very often create evergreen content that does not earn evergreen rewards. My Hive WordPress plugin solves that.

How it works is you add the plugin to your WordPress site and set the criteria for which articles it should look for on your Hive account. When you post to Hive it will add a copy of the article, plus copies of your images, to your website for you to add affiliate links or advertising.

Unlike Hive, you can keep earning months or years after posting, but you can use your Hive participation to motivate you to keep working.

Does monetizing this way work? See for yourself:

If you are at all interested in the HiveWP plugin, you can follow the development here.

Conclusion

So in summary, 2023 will look like for me ...

  1. Post as often as I can, as helpful articles as I can
  2. Syndicate those articles out to my own websites to earn evergreen rewards
  3. Comment even when I can't post
  4. Try to be a positive part of the community
  5. Have fun
