Greetings, my dear Open Mic family! We continue to be united in global harmony through this community that week after week overflows with talent and beautiful reflections from each of its members.
The theme that brings us together this week is In Love with Nature and Mother Earth, which will not only allow us to dedicate verses to our nature to praise its beauty, but will also allow us to raise our voices regarding its care and protection, as the Mexican band Mana has done in many of their songs, and today I want to bring you one of them, the song Selva Negra, from the album Cuando los Ángeles Lloran (When Angels Cry), released in 1995.
This song together with the song that gives its name to the album, were dedicated to Chico Méndes, a Brazilian ecologist and activist, who was murdered in 1988 and speaks directly to us about the deforestation of the Amazon, seen from the perspective of a small ant. I think it is important not only to take care of our environment, our only place to live, but also to raise our voices when someone else is damaging it and I think it is somehow my window this week to make a call to everyone's conscience to take care and preserve what surrounds us.

El tema que nos reúne esta semana es Enamorados de la naturaleza y de la Madre Tierra, que no solo nos permitirá dedicar versos a nuestra naturaleza para enaltecer su belleza, sino que nos permitirá alzar la voz en cuanto al cuidado y protección de la misma, como lo ha hecho la banda mexicana Mana en muchos de sus temas y hoy quiero traerles uno de ellos, se trata de la canción Selva Negra, perteneciente al álbum Cuando los Ángeles Lloran, lanzado en el año 1995.
Este tema en conjunto con la canción que da nombre al álbum, fueron dedicados a Chico Méndes, un ecologista y activista brasileño, que fue asesinado en 1988 y nos habla directamente de la deforestación del Amazonas, visto desde la perspectiva de una pequeña hormiga. Creo que es importante no solo cuidar nuestro medio ambiente, nuestro único lugar para vivir, sino también alzar la voz cuando alguien más lo está dañando y creo que de alguna manera es mi ventana en esta semana para hacer un llamado a la conciencia de todos para cuidar y preservar lo que nos rodea.
