Well, well! Here I am after all these years—I found myself back at a place I used to visit often as a child. My mom would go there to buy everything needed for my little sister's birthday parties—piñatas, candies, sweets, and various decorations; in fact, she used to buy the supplies for my own childhood parties there, too. This time, I went with my sister because we were looking for decorations for an event she is organizing—and I’m helping her with—and I was amazed to see that the place remains almost exactly as I remembered it.
¡Vaya! ¡Vaya! Aquí me tienen luego de tatos años, sí me encontraba en un lugar al que yo solía venir mucho cuando era niña y mi mamá iba a comprar todo lo necesario para las fiestas de cumpleaños de mi hermanita, pues allí venden piñatas, caramelos, dulces, y artículos varios para decoración, incluso allí compraba mi mamá lo necesarios para mis fiestas infantiles también. En esta ocasión fui con mi hermana porque estábamos buscando artículos de decoración para un evento que ella está organizando y yo la estoy ayudando, y me quedé impactada al comprobar que el lugar sigue casi igual a como yo lo recordaba.
It’s called “Super Piñata,” and if you look closely, you’ll see many piñatas hanging from the ceiling—the very kind they sell there. Best of all, they’ve always offered a full range of services, from ready-made decorations to DIY craft supplies; they even provide party decorators and entertainers. Being there brought back a wave of nostalgia and made me feel like a child again—honestly, I hadn’t visited in so many years. However, it was saddening to see that the hotel across the street—once a beautiful four-star establishment—is now abandoned and in a state of decay, presenting a dismal facade.
Se llama “Super Piñata” y si ustedes se fijan bien verán que en el techo cuelgan muchas piñatas de las que venden, lo mejor de todo es que allí siempre han ofrecido todo tipo de servicios, desde decoración ya hecha hasta materiales de manualidades para que tú mismo lo hagas, incluso ofrecen servicios de decoradores y animadores para fiestas. Me dio mucha nostalgia estar allí porque me sentí niña otra vez, en serio yo no había estado allí desde hace muchísimos años, y solo me dio tristeza comprobar que el hotel que está frente a la tienda y que en su momento era cuatro estrellas y muy bonito, hoy en día está abandonado y en decadencia, mostrando una fachada lúgubre.
Anyway, getting back to "Super Piñata," I love seeing that it’s just the same as before. They sell everything—for instance, individual balloons in every color (we picked out a few we needed for decorations), toys, and craft supplies. It’s really striking to see how tastes change over the years; it used to be common to see piñatas and decorations featuring *LazyTown* or *Doki*, whereas now there are children's shows I don't even recognize, yet they seem to be incredibly popular.
Pero en fin, volviendo a este lugar “Super Piñata” me gusta ver que sigue siendo igual que antes, venden de todo, por ejemplo globos individuales de todos los colores (nosotras elegimos unos cuantos que necesitábamos para la decoración) venden juguetes, materiales de manualidades y me sorprende muchísimo ver como realmente van cambiando los gustos con el paso de los años, antes era común ver piñatas y decoración de Lazy Town o Doky, ahora on programas infantiles que ni siquiera conozco pero que son al parecer muy populares.
Wandering through the aisles of this place was fascinating—and a bit bittersweet, too. Whenever I visited with my mom as a child, I’d always leave with a toy I loved—usually wind-up ones for the bathtub. I ended up amassing a collection of plastic sharks, seals, ducks, and swimmers that made my bath time so much more fun. Oh, what wonderful memories! It just goes to show that, as the saying goes, remembering is reliving.
Recorrer todos los pasillos de este lugar me pareció fascinante y una experiencia melancólica también, porque siempre que yo entraba a ese lugar con mi mamá cuando yo era niña, siempre salía de allí con algún juguete que me gustase, por lo general eran juguetes de cuerda que se usaban en la tina del baño, así yo llegué a amasar una colección de tiburones, focas, patos y nadadores de plástico que hacían mis rutinas más divertidas ¡Ay que recuerdos más bonitos! Definitivamente, como dice el refrán, recordar es volver a vivir
