In Ouarzazate you can go to the Gare Routiere , the starting point for all taxis. Here you can get a (shared) taxi to Aid Ben Haddou. If you drive yourself then you will find a big crossroad just before Ouarzazate (coming from Marrakech). Here is a sign to Aid Ben Haddou. It's around 30 min drive through a landscape that looks like a moon landscape. Then you arrive at the little fortified village. Only 4 families live in the village now, the other people moved to the newer houses that are build next to the village. Aït Benhaddou is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was build around 750 by the Berber. It was the connection between Marrakech and the Sahara.

The village was the background for many movies:

Game of Thrones, The Jewel of the Nile, The Living Daylights, The Last Temptation of Christ, Lawrence of Arabia, Kundun, The Mummy, Gladiator, Alexander, Dunya en Desie in Marokko, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time en Babel.

You can spend some hours in Aid Ben Haddou , walk around the small streets and make the climb to the top. It's very hot so take your time and bring enough water. In the village you will find many shops and next to the village you can find a restaurant.
