In the last lesson you “set up the blog” or your affiliate website. Now it is time to shape this into a money maker. There are certain essential settings we need to cover first so that your WordPress site is more customized.

For your affiliate landing page to kick some conversion ass it needs to be creative and trustworthy. Just because we’re going to be doing things a bit differently for your “affiliate landing page”, doesn’t mean that the job is going to be tough. If you do it the right way it isn’t going to be tough; just opt for building your affiliate landing page with a landing page platform like Optimize press which makes this whole job much easier.

If you’ve looked at your blog, you will see that the overall appearance is very “plain” straight out of the box. In its original installation, you’ll find it can be quite bare.

It’s NOT okay to leave it this way if you want results.

There are a few MAJOR components to a Landing page that makes it a money maker. Here are the most important:

  1. A Strong well placed “Call To Action – Your CTA button should give your visitors the same offer mentioned in your headline or the link that brought your visitors to your landing page.

  2. Consistency – If you have a message mismatch on your affiliate landing page, you can forget about getting many conversions.

  3. Nice Design – With this one there aren’t any set rules or guidelines that you can follow. You have to trust your design aesthetic and go for a landing page layout that’s both relevant and attractive.

Go with color contrast when you want to highlight an element on your affiliate landing page; like the CTA button. Go for bright colors and an image that is not only relevant to your offer but also looks good.

Most importantly, always remember to use lots of white space on your affiliate landing page to get a clean and de-cluttered look.

Now that you know what goes on your affiliate landing page I think it’s about time we discuss how exactly you’ll be setting up and publishing your page.

I pretty much always use OptimizePress as my theme, since it was built specifically for selling products online and makes the job of creating landing pages a complete breeze. They know exactly what a good landing page needs! You can also easily implement the blog, and any tracking systems directly into your Optimize press theme if you choose to later.
