Think Middle Earth but Kobolds and Ants not Dwarves and Goblins.
Kobolds have long been considered the most skilled miners in the land. Their small stature and inherent bravery allows them to squeeze into small and risky spaces, and they are very good with tools. Recently however, the Kobolds have apparently dug too deep into the crust beneath the Molten Mountains. This has allowed an undiscovered race of Fire Ants to breach the surface. These Ants are each about the size of a man’s fist, not large enough individually to pose a threat to anyone, but they are very good at teamwork and they operate through a shared hive mind. The Ant Miners carry tiny tools, which they use to enhance their already-formidable digging skills. They always travel in packs and lines; if you see a line of Ant Miners approaching your home, do not attempt to fight. It’s best to just give up your home.
Acquisition
Originally, acquired through rewards chests received for daily quests and end of season rewards these fiery little buggers are all out of print. And may those who burned them forever rue their choices now that a FIRE ANTS are pushing $0.5 USD.

We Want a Fight!
Of course you do. And surely the above is just too much jibber jabber. Well it all started on a warm summers night... Apologies to Splinterlanders of the southern hemisphere, I certainly meant no offense by showing my northern hemisphere bias.

Ruleset: Weak Magic and Evenstevens

How it started:
I only have the starter card for the magical wizard bro because I thought 8 USD/BCX was too high a price to pay when I first started and it obviously has not gotten better from there.
Regrets aside below is the starting situation.
I had some misgivings about my choices when I saw his lineup. But I held out hope that with no Sneak, Snipe, or Opportunity my Ant Miners would scavenge up some serious health and protect my Cornelius while he pumps out a boosted 3 damage plus blast damage. Ant Miners as a super cheap meat shield, I'm pretty sure they have no other purpose. Mine is a level 4 but with a level 1 YZ he got capped at level 3.
How it's going:
At the end of round 1 I would say its going pretty well. Ant Man is getting healthier and so far all the scavenged parts have come from my opponent.
By the end of round two, its become a race to the bottom. I'm winning but not as handily as one might expect.
How it ended:
As we can see, everything went to plan.

LOVE THEM OR HATE THEM
I wouldn't call it love, a 1 health Ant Miner is an easy target for an opportunity monster so it's important to really choose your moment to play them. Under the right conditions though, he is a super cheap monster among monsters. Put him into an equalizer match with a bit of time to build himself up and he becomes a boulder rolling down hill, unstoppable.
