Touchy Feely Neighbours:
(This isn't them but it's the closest image I could find on Google)
I live in a medium sized city, two streets away from its CBD. My family know one of our neighbours a few doors down and my Nonna in-law lives next door but other than that there two apartment buildings full of strangers and about a dozen houses of people who we don't know. This such story involves the neighbours directly across the road from us, an old couple with heavy euro accents that we have no idea what they say. I have seen them from my house and only one other time have I passed them on the sidewalk in the 18 years I have lived here.
Anyway, I am walking home from grocery shopping with my youngest daughter (she's 2 now but 3 in July) down the side of the street opposite my house. I see the neighbours up ahead walking towards us and at this time the little one is playing up a little bit as we walk. The neighbours are in front of us and pass us on our right sharing the footpath when the Mrs Neighbour smiles, bends down and caresses Miss F's cheek all friendly like. I understand she was being kind but you don't touch a strangers child on the face without speaking to the parent first, even just a simple 'Hello' to the adult then approach the kid. I would have instigated the 'Hello' first but it happened so quickly in the pass by that she dived right in.
Well, I hope the Mrs Neighbour is okay, today Miss F nose is a bit runny and her cheek on that side was a bit wet and I don't want to get MN sick. Maybe she should have checked first before touching.
