Hello Everybody!

The time you have all been waiting for has arrived! Week 42 of #zencolouringcontest ended yesterday, and now to announce the winners!

So without further ado, let's get on with the show(case)!

Firstly lets announce the Community Favourite,

This entry was a common favourite among the upvoters from the #zencolouringcontest community.

In 3rd place:

I chose this one because I love the soft and pale colours that contrast the dark browns that they have used, it is quite a Steampunk colour palette. The mixture of soft pinks, lilac, and brown creates an eye catching pattern. The textured background works well with the design to make the darker colours stand out more and the similar colours blend to have a negative space effect!

In 2nd place:

I picked this one because I love the combination of colours and textures used to fill the stencil. The texture in the outer pipes give a a rusted metal effect and the shading in the 'bolts' on them gives some dimension to their shape. I love the colours used in the cogs, paired with the texture it gives them a corroded chrome look, making the machine look worn as if it had been running for a long time. The addition of the grayish purple on the cogs teeth help the shapes of the design stand out more and the yellow background contrasts well with the darker colours of the design!

And in 1st place:

I chose this as the winner because I love the effort and detail that went into colouring it with pencils. The combination of colours they used go really well together, the red, yellow and green work well to blend with the shades of brown. The shading in a lot of places gives the design a lot of depth and detail. The dark brown shading on the pipes helps to make them look rounded and the blending of colours within the cogs gives a very metal-like effect. I also like the subtle addition of green in places that makes the machine have a worn/corroded look. The swirls of colour in the background are a nice touch and give the impression the machine is still turning!
