I looked out my Hotel window and saw the cutest boat I have ever seen. A few years ago, on a work trip to Nelson in the South Island of New Zealand, I saw this little guy.
Having had quite a bit to do with boats as part of my job, I was intrigued. I went down and took a closer look. Aptly named "Little Toot" , this cutey (can you say that about a boat?) was beautifully made, all in miniature and in proportion. When I got back home I Googled around for some information on Little Toot.
Although a rare sight in New Zealand waters, these little beauties are a common sight in the USA. Original built in Spain in 2007, it is 5 metres long and is a perfectly proportioned version of a working Tug Boat. It even has a brass cannon! powered by shotgun cartridges (bet that frightened the life out of a few ducks!) Most importantly for Kiwi's, it has a gas stove large enough for a pot of tea and a chilly bin large enough for a stash of Beer, stowed under the Teak aft deck.
Although not a contender for the "America's Cup" WHICH WE JUST WON ..WOO HOOO (sorry, just saying...)
It really is a stunning little work of art.
