I finally got this years version the other day the 2022 30 Gram Chinese Silver Panda Coin.
I am up to 11 of the Chinese Panda series coins, I don't know if I will ever have them all but I will slowly keep trying to get some of the older ones.
The Chinese Panda series is celebrating it's 40th year since the first coin of the series was minted. The first 2 years where minted in gold and the silver version was started in 1983. The first 3 years of silver were minted only in poof quality with a lower mintage of 10,000 a year. Every year has been a different design except 1986 they did not mint the series and 2002 they used the same design as 2001.
Up until 2016 the Chinese panda's were minted in 1 ounce coins. From 2016 until present they have switch to the metric system and have a weight of 30 grams. It's my understanding the switch was because Chinese don't understand the weight of an ounce being they only use the metric system so they went with an even amount of 30 grams.
As always the obvers features the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The outer circle has the year and the Chinese characters for "People's Republic of China."
This year being the 40th year anniversary the Panda series added a 40 panda privy mark on the reverse side. This years design feature 2 baby pandas sliding down a snow covered hill.
