Hey guys! Guess who’s here to rant again. Me😅
So for almost two weeks now I’ve been trying to get my PVC and I still haven’t gotten it after four attempts. I don’t know why things that should be easily done here in Nigeria become a huge issue. It’s almost as if they purposely make it difficult for us here.
On my first attempt I left my house around 6:40am just to get to one of the centers early. I got there and they asked me to wait stating that they don’t know what time the officials would be there. That was how I waited till 11:00am before I finally went back home.
On the second attempt I decided to try another centre and I got there by few minutes to 8:00am. I went ahead to write my name on the list and I was number 245. That was a Tuesday and after I waited till like 10:00am I found out that they were still calling the list they had from the previous Friday after which they would call Saturdays list before Tuesdays. They were so slow with everything. I still went home angrily.
Now my third attempt was on Tuesday. I actually got lost locating the place, because that particular centre was in an undeveloped area. That was how I got there and I was number 145. Yet they brought just one person for the registration so obviously it was slow. They managed to do only 100 people that day. That was home I got home by 6:00pm frustrated and angry.
Yesterday being Thursday had to be the most frustrating trial. I literally shed tears of frustration yesterday. I woke up early and got to that centre by 6:50am. I had a hard time locating it because it was inside a community. I got there and I was number 48 on the list. I was happy about that. Later on by 8, the woman that’s supposed to be in charge before the officials come said we had to write a new list because she wasn’t there earlier. We wrote a new one in her presence and my number had managed to climb up to number 27 since most people were not around. Funny enough they named the woman “Princess of Aguowa”. Aguowa being the name of the community. Apparently she called the shots.
She asked the men there to set up two canopies, one for the officials when they get there and one for the rest of us. They shared plastic chairs for everyone. After a few minutes she came to collect the chairs from the “youths” stating that we should stand and gave them to the old women that were still coming. Well that was a bit normal over here in Nigeria- Offering your seat to an older person while you stand. But her forcing us to was just absurd!
The officials finally came by few minutes past 10:00am. They brought just one person to register over 200 people so you could imagine. Anyways I was number 27 so I knew I would surely get mine today.
The woman comes to announce that they would do the previous days list first. In my mind I said “I’m finished today”. My God these people were not fast at all. The man that was doing registration was even old, it’s almost as if his hands were shaking while he was typing! 🤦🏽♀️. By 11:50 am. People were getting annoyed and they started fighting anyhow, honestly I wouldn’t even blame them. They now decided to share registration forms thinking it would calm us down. After sharing it I thought I had hope - I was so wrong.
By 3:00pm they hadn’t finished calling the previous day’s list, talk more of starting that days own. What was more annoying was that there were no chairs so I had to perch somewhere and sit down under the hot sun- very hot sun.
Then again people started arguing and fighting apparently they were giving preferential treatment to the older women that were just coming, people living in the community and to nursing mothers as well and then because we’re young we now deserve to stand under the sun waiting for something we’re not even sure we’d eventually get. After coming by 6:00am!
Yes! As expected I didn’t get to do my PVC again after trying for 4 times. This country called Nigeria is just difficult for no good reason I swear. Why suffer people like this?!
I honestly don’t think I’m interested in getting it again. But my parents would obviously force me to try again next week.🙄
