Our family has been taking hikes throughout our new home in the Ozark Mountains. We've recently moved to the area from the west coast and exploring a new region has been exhilarating!

We found an abandoned mill in the Blanchard Springs National Forest along a trail. It was abandoned mid-creation by the Civilian Conservation Corps, and the effect created by the unfinished building is reminiscent of much older ruins.

The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a post-depression back-to-work program created by Franklin Roosevelt with the New Deal. The CCC was created to service rural areas and employ young men to relieve the pressure of depression-era unemployment. It was dissolved with the onset of WW2 to free up resources and men for the war effort.

I thought the building's windows served as the perfect frame for the waterfall created by Mirror Lake dam, also created by the CCC, just behind it. I love the different perspectives between the mono and colour, the way the light and the water compare between the two.

What do you think? Colour? Or Black and White?
