Hello hivers, an happy Monday to you all! I hope you spent a nice weekend with your family or friends or just in relax. Here it was another very hot weekend and so we spent the most part of the day in a "survival mode": inside our home, drinking a lot of water and cold water compresses on my legs and on my head, sitting on the sofa, Walking barefoot on the floor while my furry friends was sleeping there. It was a long long day and I felt myself like a zombie because my mind was a little confused. Yes, it was similar to a nightmare, maybe because we are living heat waves since 3/4 weeks and we are all tired now.
Fortately, after the dinner, me and my hubby went to visit my mom who lives in a small village out of the city, where the air is a little cooler than here. We walked all together there in a quiet way, breathing the air of the night and it was very very comfortable for us.
While I was walking along the alleys of the village (that is the same village where I was born and where I lived for the most part of my life) I took some pics of the abandoned paper mill there.
Some years ago I shared with you some pics of it, but as you can see plants and trees are growing inside the building and so from time to time the view changes.
When I was a child my dad worked there like many other men who lived in the village and so I know this building very well, also because I lived close to it with my family. At the start, around 100 years ago, the name of it was "Cartiera Giacomelli" (cartiera is the italian word for "paper mill"), but around the 1960 the family Carrara bought it and it became the "Cartiera Carrara". That family (a rich family here in my area) is the owner of many other paper mills, but they decided to close this one around 30-40 years ago because it was the smaller one.
Searching on line I found the pic of an old postal card where you can see the paper mill in the 1925:
