This week I'm running a facebook ad for my novel Blue Dragon Mississippi. Coming up with the right art for this ad proved quite challenging. Above is the final image that I went with. Below are a few of the runners up. Each one was created with stable diffusion.
In terms of art, this one was probably my favorite. I love how simple and iconic it is. But it seemed to work better as a random post than as an ad to inspire strangers to buy my book.
Considering that my audience is 62% male, I did this one in an attempt to make something sexy. I tried a couple versions with various bits of text. This is the best I could come up with, and it still didn't end up feeling like an ad I wanted to run.
This last image has more of a fantasy feel. It's elegant and well-composed. I made about a hundred fantasy dragons and this was the best of them. Even so, this art feels a little mediocre to me. It's nice to look at, but too easy to ignore.
I may not post much here for the next few days. My favorite person is coming to visit so there's a good chance I'll be otherwise occupied. Even so, I'll try to get at least one new book chapter posted this weekend. I feel like the last one kind of left readers hanging.
