Hmm. The policy dimension of this is super complicated, in part because of jurisdictional issues. The priorities of local governments aren't well aligned with the priorities of the feds. If we were to adopt a broad open borders stance, it seems like there would need to be a huge coalition of local governments all willing to work together to meet expanded social services and law enforcement needs, in combination with an overhaul of the immigration process at the federal level to provide a more reasonable path to citizenship for the massive number of migrants coming here.
