I've written about living on that island, but not much on Hive. Probably should do a whole post about that experience, now that you mention it.
A few years ago, I finally found the right combination of stuff to manage the cluster headaches effectively. My diet is restricted and I avoid triggering environments. I sleep ten hours a day with the help of prescriptions and nightly cannabis use. When a headache seems imminent, I breathe high flow oxygen from a tank set up outside my bedroom. The result is that I've had just two months of headaches in the last two years. Previously I averaged about eight months of headaches a year.
I agree that the present state of affairs is both surreal and disturbing. Society is breaking down. Common sense is out the window. Our so-called leaders seem unable to make good decisions even when lives depend on it. The downside of this is that the world is now a dystopia. But I see a small silver lining here. As the status quo loses legitimacy, it becomes less concerned with condemning/policing alternative lifestyles like mine. Working from home isn't looked down on like it was 15 years ago (though tax law still treats the self-employed unfavorably). Medical cannabis use has become normalized. Almost no one judges me for sleeping into the afternoon. In little ways like that, I see this dystopia making fringe lives like mine more acceptable to average people.
