The above image was made with stable diffusion using the prompt 'spray foam in an old wooden fence.'
A friend of mine was leaving the gym the other day, walking and listening to music through headphones. Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his butt. My friend had been hit by something, yet when he looked around the streets appeared deserted. So he took the bus to the hospital and an x-ray revealed a projectile lodged in his buttock. It was a small caliber bullet. He'd been shot while walking down the street at eleven in the morning.
In my back yard, my uncles are digging post holes and vacuuming up the dirt with a shop vac. To set the posts, they appear to be using spray foam instead of the more traditional dirt or concrete. Next, they plan to just glue bricks together with glue instead of using mortar or simply arranging the bricks such that gravity holds them in place.
In the news, Politico published an article titled 'Three key moments from RFK Jr.'s testimony to Congress.' From what I gather, Kennedy testified before the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government. Strangely, Politico referred to the event as a 'hearing of the committee investigating the politicization of the federal government.' I'm wondering if Politico deliberately refrained from using the term weaponization for political reasons. My guess is probably, since the article itself was pure control regime propaganda.
All of this is ridiculous. The world has been taken over by silly people. I want to throw up my hands and dismiss it all as absurd. The mentally unfit president. The proxy war with Russia. The casual violence in cities like mine. The corruption and censorship and propaganda. All of it.
I want to dismiss it, though maybe there's a better way to respond. My general strategy is to be patient and reasonable. Sometimes this works. Other times, like today, it's harder.
Then there's the issue of social obligation. At some point, we're all obligated to toss clowns out of positions of power when they misuse that power too egregiously. Shy of that, we're all obligated to prevent absurd people from doing harm to others as a consequence of their absurdity. It's easier to meet this obligation in personal life than in public life.
In fact, the whole idea of civic obligations seems to have fallen by the wayside in recent decades. It's as if people have forgotten that society is produced and reproduced by their actions. We all participate in creating our shared reality, but now this reality has become more like a thing imposed on us than like something we all worked together to produce.
I'd suggest we all go to our local public squares to talk about it, but public squares are largely extinct. Telegram groups aren't quite the same. For me, that leaves blogging. I favor radically transforming the legacy system. How about you?
