[English] : Hey Steemians! I was doing some research about Steemit and came across a very interesting tool that reveals stats which can give you a better idea about the platform, the blogs and it's users. It's by Google and is called Google Trends. I am sure most of you would be aware of it and might be using it as well. Basically it gives detailed statistics about any search keyword and displays data in a very simplified way. When I searched for Steemit , here's what I found:
* Trending Graph With Useful Filters :
Interest Over Time : The numbers represent search interest relative to the highest point on the chart for the given region and time. A value of 100 is the peak popularity for the term. A value of 50 means that the term is half as popular. Likewise a score of 0 means the term was less than 1% as popular as the peak.
What's great is that you can modify the result and search for any country, any date range and for any category! So, go ahead and search what's trending in your country the most an perhaps you can write more on those topics to get more views.
* Interest By Region : The darker the color, the more trending Steemit is in that region. If you hover on any region, a tooltip will appear which will show the IOT(Interest Over Time) of that place. On the side, a list is displayed with the stats. You can further drill down by clicking on it. You can sort the list by either region or city.
* Related Topics / Related queries : At the bottom there are 2 tables that show the related topics and queries in regards to Steemit. There are 2 options to sort this list - Top and Rising. The name itself suggests their functionality. You can again click them to further drill down!
Now that you got an idea about these stats, here are some useful tips which I feel every newbie should keep in mind. In fact, not just the newbies, it's something that everyone should take notice of :
* How To Reach Out To More Users : Looking at the stats made me realize that writing the blogs in English or any 1 particular language limits the number of users who can actually understand it! One of the top places where Steemit is trending is China and exactly how many people there can read and understand English? So, my suggestion is to use Google Translate to translate your blogs into other languages as well so that people can understand.
* Not Every Blog Is To Be Translated : The above point shouldn't be taken in the wrong sense. Translate only those blogs which contains information/news that might be useful for everyone. Otherwise, it might result into people downvoting you. Spamming is never a way to gain followers.
* In Which Language To Translate : If you are writing anything related to any country (Eg: when you visited a city in a different country) , I would suggest translating in that region's language. Apart from that you can use Google Trends or View All Tags in Steemit to help you out.
* How Many Translations Are Needed : There is no particular answer to this. my suggestion is to translate in not more than two. Otherwise not only will your blogs will be never-ending, you will end up taking an enormous amount of time to just frame one post.
* What To Write To Get More Attraction : If you don't have a topic in mind, just look at the last tables on Google Trends . It will tell you the highest and rising queries related to Steemit. Pick up any topic from there. See if you have a solution to people's doubts and queries and write a blog on it. You can also search for trending topics in any particular region and pick up whatever interests you.
* Don't Rely Only On The Translator : Reaching out to more people doesn't guarantee that they will read or upvote your blog if the material is not worth it. Keep the main focus on your content. Write quality content and then use the translator. Also, remember that the translator will not convert your language 100% correctly. Sentences in the other language might not make proper sense sometimes. Always keep that in might.
