Pets are humanizing. They remind us we have an obligation and responsibility to preserve and nurture and care for all life.

The 4th day of October marks World Animal Day. Every day can be our pet's day, but this particular day is more than just special - it's a great chance to show the world about the different animals with their various traits and also to raise awareness to others who practice cruelty to them that they too have feelings and that they are deserving of humane treatment the same way as we do.
So here are various animals found in our compound. Aside from being adorable, they all possess unique traits that do not only make any one of us feel relaxed but are also beneficial in one way or another.
Let us start with this dog. Notice how she stepped on her feet and how she looked at the camera. At first, she walked away every time I came near because she had just woken up after quite some time of sleeping under a tree. But later on, she expressed her friendly side.
It seems the ducks have gone far. Anyway, let's have them next.
Are you shy little duck? Why aren't you looking at the camera? Cheer up, it's your day.
Hmm, these two seemed lovers. Aren't they? Look at how sweet they are. The two kids beside me even asked why I am smiling. Eventually, they smiled too. It's not only because smile is contagious, but also because they also saw the closeness of the two ducks.
Next in line is this cute little cat. I actually couldn't find this sweet cat a while ago, so I just used an old photograph of her. Nevertheless, she might be somewhere else a while ago. Her cute eyes and cuddly body couldn't be more fascinating. And I think, the cat really felt comfortable with that pose.
We have rabbits as well, and two of them are these adorable couple.
When I first saw a white rabbit, I wondered why it had red eyes. I researched something about it and found out that it's not actually the color of their iris but rather a reflection of what lies inside their eyes. Such a thing is a result of a term known as albinism.
As I was walking, the chickens seemed to have greeted me by indicating a sound known as clucking.
Last but definitely not least because in fact, they are the most abundant. Yes, I am talking about these tiny ants busy with whatever work they're doing. Despite their size, they are much stronger than what we think they are 'cause they can carry a size that is not only double their weight, but they can carry up to 50 times their weight. Such an incredible strength, right?
A few moments afterward, I just saw a few of them meet together, and they seemed to have a general assembly as if they were planning what to do on this special day. I smiled as I looked at the photos I had taken. The moment I look at them, they are already parting ways and going in various directions they had chosen to go.
Indeed, animals can't just be mere animals. They can be considered pets, friends, and, most importantly, a crucial component of our environment.
Happy World Animal Day, everyone!
