Now that there is plenty of fruity food to be found in the orchards, inevitably some uninvited guests seize the opportunity to feast as well. I like all kinds of animals, but these flying stingers are some of those that I don't need to see up close that often. Not that I'm afraid of them :) But hornets I do try to avoid, especially in swarms.
I was trying to take a photo of this wasp, and the best one I took was when it landed on my leg. Thankfully it didn't like my taste and soon flew away.
And a hornet lost its way near the house, I don't know if it was injured, it just ran around in circles for a while. Luckily it was a little young one and quite timid, so I persuaded myself to look at it a bit closer :)
There are so many of these insects buzzing around nowadays that picking fruit from the trees has become quite a challenge, there's constantly someone in my hair :)
