A few days ago, I was reading the news about Malls re-opening. At first, it seemed like a good news until I read the whole piece that mentioned, only those who are vaccinated can go inside the mall and additional public places.
My initial thought was that couldn't happen as the country vaccination rate even for the 1st dose is still low. But yesterday, when I was ordering food from a restaurant that's located inside the mall, he said " sorry, it took long because they have to scan my vaccination card". Then I know, that the rules are already effective and enforced.
Prior to this, I have applied to get vaccinated. I even tried to find vaccination from companies and other private corp as they often organize this kind of thing. Unfortunately, it's always fully booked.
Then, today I was checking again for my vaccination status to see if I am getting the call to get the vaxx. As I was checking it, my ID received a red status that said, for the time being, I can't use any public facilities.
There are several ways to see this. But I don't think that is fair considering the vaccination rate is still around 21-22% for the first dose and only 12% for the second dose as of 24th august. This information can be found here; see the data Covid vaccine tracker.However, I can also see why the govt is enforcing these rules. This movement restriction, no vaxx no job, and public facilities can drive up the vaccination process as majority of people have no other choice than to get vaccinated. The govt is also currently rolling out vaccine for the people with comorbidity as well. Eventually, there will be no one left behind.
I wish there was a way for us to pay or choose the vaccine. As there was a talk about it but got shut down because people saw that as an opportunity to increase more inequality. I personally don't mind to pay as long as I have the options to choose, easier access to the vaccine, and no long queues as vaccination often draws crowd.
But again, not that I ever leave my room thus far. So far, since the movement restriction was imposed, I do everything inside my room, from groceries to even accessing doctor's consultation and the prescription. The only way I can see myself going outside again, is when I am really bored to death, which even if that's the case, I would still try finding something inside the room.
As I was traveling before for full 6 months, this is actually the month that I am going into hermit mode, where I don't go outside and minimize socialization. Anyhow, I can only wait for now and see you outside world in next 2 years, I guess.
