Documentaries are a great way to learn about the world we live in even without traveling. One of the best documentary productions according to me is made by DW production. DW is a German based company and tax funded by Germans. Since it is state-owned, you sure can expect a few biases here and there but again, the way they narrate the story, the cinematography is one of the best there is. It should be noted that whenever you watch a documentary, you have to form your own opinion and not get carried away by it. Although DW is definitely good at persuasion that led you to see the world the way they want you to see.
One of their recent works shed a light on the war in myanmar. They explores the Chin, ethnic armed in myanmmar who鈥檚 currently fighting the junta. The Myanmar war is particularly a hot topic around south east asia but very less so in the western world. Dw did a good job in at least bringing this topic up with an intriguing narrative and the close shot from the front-line. They also travel to the deep mountains where they follow the commander of China's army but also see the war through the eyes of regular civilians which adds more human touch to it. To say the least, once you get to see how these people lose their livelihoods and their home, you sympathize with them.
In recent months, there are a few myanmar鈥檚 documentary made to shed light on the war but DW has been one of the best as it brings up a lot more points of view in which the war is also at the expense of regular people.
Truthfully, the war in Myanmar is a complex one. It requires a few more understanding of how Myanmar as a nation and the ethics in the country to truly understand the way it is now. But that one is one among many best works of DW. If you want to learn something new, DW is a great place to start.
