Last Friday I was happy to find out I have one less week on my contract than what I expected. No whining was what I told myself when I started out. Not much anyway and somehow it seems I managed.
For some people, their jobs are part of their identities. They feel as if it is the most important part of their lives and they must dedicate all their energy to perform as a perfect cog in the machine. Out of that pressure comes a lot of frustration, unnecessary stress, and of course whining.
I promised myself never to fall for that trap ever again. No emotional investment, no driving myself crazy with perfectionism, no work friends, and no stressing out of my brain. Doesn’t mean I don’t do my job well. Quite the opposite. There is simply no attachment. Of course, I still had to listen and witness others squeaking in the trap. All unaware of what they do to themselves. Some of them said you seem to enjoy this job. I shrugged it is just a job. I am not my job.
I am glad to be soon done with traveling back and forth to a different city every day, waking up early, looping the same shit different day routines while trying to keep up with my own stuff as well. Sleep was often sacrificed for silly things I still do stress about. Though lately, I am trying to relax and be more chill about those as well for a healthier mental state. Nothing is worth fussing over. Nothing is worth your health and well being. Life will find other ways.
What is the next move? The big plans? No plans. Right now, I don’t really want any plans other than getting home, being home and feeling like home. I am just waiting patiently for the time here to finally run out and that is fine too.
