Inktober 2021, Day 8: Watch

Welcome to the second week of Inktober! Can you believe it? Keep going, keep going, keep going is my mantra! Especially at times when I feel tired, discouraged about my slow progress, or when I realize that I underestimated how challenging this challenge is. Preparing posts takes me nearly the same amount of time as creating each piece. I am struggling with putting my all over the place thoughts into sentences that make sense. Does it make sense? Sometimes it feels like creating art is easier than finding words. Is what it is.

Today is day 8, and the prompt is - watch. A drone-like, cyberpunk watch imagery floated in my mind for this one. After some sketching, I was happy with my mean, spiky cube watch. It is a character, no doubt.

I could call this combination an M31’s classic - black and purple inks with dotted elements. Sometimes the dotted layer makes all the difference and takes the work to the next level. I enjoy the dotting process a lot. It is so meditative. Tools used to create this artwork include - a shitload of patience, jet black and purple Diamine calligraphy ink, H2O, Pigma brush pen and fine liner 03, Sakura Jelly Roll liner 08, and sounds of synth wave.
