Sprout - Ink drawing, 21x16 cm, 2021
Nature is truly remarkable with its ability to sprout life even in places that suffer great devastation or that are not a very hospitable environment. I imagined this tiny, fragile seedling sprouting in a pile of rocks. Even though the rocks don鈥檛 seem very friendly at first glance, I like to think that they shield it from harsh, cold winds and other dangers.
I ordered a bunch of new Pigma Brush pens today since I have discovered quite a difference between the brush pens and Pigma fine liners. The brush does not leave any marks on the paper, while fine liners leave marks that are visible when painted over with liquid inks. Also, brushed lines look a lot bolder and pop more. I like the look! There are cases when fine liners are needed, as they can get the tiniest details sorted. Like the dotting or adding patterns that I also incorporated in this artwork on the rocks. I used the Diamine fountain pen Sherwood Green ink and added some highlights with Sakura Gelly Roll liner 08 for the sprout.
Similar to the sour, sprout was one of the works that flowed with ease. I think I apply unnecessary pressure to myself at times. I need to relax more often.
I am pleased with the almost 3d look of the rocks and my cute little sprout guarded by them.
It is getting more gloomy outside by day, but I am still in good spirits for the first time in a long time. Yesterday I lit my first candles in the house. They help!
