Inktober 2021, Day 10: Pick

Wake up, Neo… Time to pick the red pill and to follow the white rabbit. I was nine years old when I saw the Matrix on the big screen. As you can imagine, it left a lasting imprint on my mind. I can’t say that I grokked all the intricate details tucked away in the plotline back then, but I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever experienced and loved every bit of it. To this day, I feel the happiest to rewatch it for the hundredth time, despite now understanding the dark and deep topics of the Matrix. Yea, happy nostalgia. That is what it is.

Prompt of the day 10 was - pick. Pick a pick? Pick what? Pick one? Yes. A choice. Pick one! The legendary Red pill, Blue pill moment. I decided to recreate it and put my spin on it. Perhaps, Neo received a strange program on his computer, which made him choose between the two pills.

I can be strange sometimes. I wanted to find the specific model of the monitor Neo had, but after googling, it gave me multiple variations of what it could be. So I then went on Netflix and rewatched the Wake up Neo part in the film, which is where it was visible. For a few seconds on the screen, the exact model, written on the upper left corner - Panasonic PanaSync/Pro P70. I believe we still have this monitor somewhere in the basement. It was terrible xD It killed my eyes. I decided not to write the model name on my version since I am not that great at recreating the letter style, and it is too tiny to fit the long name.

I used a Pigma Brush pen and Pigma Micron fine liner 03 to line the monitor and the program, the jet black Diamine ink for the monitor color, Matrix green was achieved with Diamine fountain pen ink called Sherwood Green, the code rain was created with Sakura Gelly Roll white liner 08, and finally, for the Red and Blue pill, I used watercolors from Royal Talens since I did not have the red ink on hand.
