Greetings friends, I have been missing time from these spaces, basically because the December day hit me hard in terms of the amount of work, I was at the fair to take advantage of the Christmas season and because of this it didn't give me much chance to publish, I came home tired and I would fall asleep instantly after eating; but we are back with this project describing the process of making a silver triangle that a young man asked me for. I don't know if he asked for this design because of its meaning, which I will give to him later, or because he liked it, the truth is that he I wanted to and I had already seen that this type of triangular pieces tends to be very trendy on social networks in men's jewelry...
So that you know within the symbolism of the triangle it can be mentioned:
- Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit)
- Mind, Body and Spirit.
- Past, present and future.
For this project, I spoke with the young client, he wanted a measurement close to 3.5 in height, from what I remember, I created the drawing using the Inkscape design program, basically to give the thickness to the line and the size to print, from the rest to make the piece I used:
⭐ 1 mm silver sheet, 1 mm silver thread.
⭐ Saw bow and saws 2/0
⭐ Lima, sandpaper 240, 360 and 400.
⭐ Dremel
⭐ 0.75 mm milling cutter
⭐ Bench motor, cloth polishing disc, polishing wax
⭐ Paste on a bar.
⭐ Blowtorch and silver solder.
Process
The paper print of the triangle was glued to the silver foil, I used a stick glue, which I feel more comfortable with because I don't have to wait as long for it to stick and it is also easier to remove. After this, with the Dremel and the 0.75 mm milling cutter I opened a hole through which the saw would pass for the internal cut.
With the saw bow and the 2/0 saw I carefully proceeded to make the internal cut, carefully because the young man was quite insistent that he wanted the figure to be perfect, but when it comes to handmade work one always We want them to be perfect although there is always a margin of imperfection, we are not machines.
After making the internal cut, touch the external cut, which is done in the same way with the saw and with great care to avoid errors or going outside the margin. Once the cuts are made, the impression is removed from the sheet and the figure is corrected with the files to make the triangle silhouette look perfect and uniform; In the photo you can see some slight curvatures in the cut lines.
Then I soldered a silver ring on the triangle, using the torch, borax as a flux and silver solder, as you can see in the image, I supported myself with a copper cutout so that the ring remained level.
It turned out that the piece was very big and heavy, it went beyond our young client's budget, despite everything these are things that happen, but they have a solution, so I had to cut a few millimeters on the outside and return to the cutting process with the saw, pass the file and so on.
Here, due to the rush of those December days and what I had to deliver, I missed taking more photos, but in summary, after welding the ring on top of the triangle I had to make the chain pin, so I looked for a piece of thin sheet of silver, then I drew the pin on a piece of paper and glued it, the drawing of the pin lengthwise was perhaps 2.5 cm, cut with the saw, folded with the round tweezers, passed and soldered to the ring of the triangle quite successfully.
This is how it looked after using sandpaper 240, 360 and 400, polishing on the bench motor with the cloth discs and polishing wax, as you can see a simple and elegant piece.
This is the final result.
I hope you liked the process of making this piece and that you knew a little about making a piece of jewelry, I would love to know your opinions about this project.
