Today I bring you the process that I do to make my San Miguel Arcángel, one of the pieces that they like the most, many of the people who have taken it are devoted and have a lot of faith in this powerful Archangel, besides it is not for nothing, to the Being a handmade jewel has its unique touch....

Well, let's go with the things we need:

  • 0.75 mm bronze sheet for the body and 0.5 mm for the wings, silver or copper can also be used.

  • Borax or flux.

  • Copper, silver or bronze wire

  • Harris solder, I used this because I was working with bronze and copper, plus it is cheaper than silver and runs well,

  • Saw Bow and Saw Hair 2/0

  • 3M sandpaper number 220, 360, 400

  • Jewelry polishing wax

  • Dremel, sandpaper holder and bit to open 0.75 mm holes

  • Torch for jewelry, I use the Orca brand

  • bench engine

  • Other things that will be revealed...

The first thing is to paste the archangel design on the 0.75 mm bronze sheet, I used stick glue, which I find more comfortable, quick and easy to work with, After this, I opened the internal holes with a 0.75 mm wick using the Dremel, to proceed to make the cuts with the hacksaw of the internal areas of the figure.

Once the internal cuts are finished, the silhouette of the archangel is cut, part of the details of the figure of Saint Michael such as the neck in (v) of his clothes, I do it with the same hacksaw, tilting it to make the superficial cuts and thus make the lines, this applies to the skirt, the sleeves, the sword and the scales, lines that are well defined in the drawing.

![

To make the wings, it is the same procedure, but the cut is only external, after this the wings are textured with a hammer that has a thin horizontal tip, like the one that appears first from left to right in the image below.

I turn the figure and from behind I spread borax at the height of the neck, light the torch and make a fire on it, applying the solder in this area, then make a (q) shape in copper wire and place it as seen in the image to later weld with the torch, this will be the counter ring, as you can see everything is singed; So I put the archangel for an hour in a jar with water that contains pickle, which is an acid that allows the piece to whiten and lose its charring or rust... this is a product for jewelry, but vinegar is also useful for example.

After removing from the acid, it is time to sand with the sandpaper in this order, nº 220, 360 and 400, and then polish on the bench motor with their respective mops, using special wax for jewelry, to give it a mirror shine.

Even so, there are still details that need to be drawn, so with a broken wick, but with its sharp point I mark the belt, the hair, the sword and the scales, I give it a kind of texture, I polish again with a very soft mop, but this time with the Dremel so as not to lose details.

At the end I place its ring so that it can enter a chain and I order it to be silver plated, in the image you can see the final result
