Regretful of the past
in the sweetest way.
Lovingly longing for that potential
what could I be?
I wanted to change the world
unsatisfied with everything
and understanding nothing.
So long ago, so far away.
When I see that sun shining
in that same way,
When I smell that fresh cut grass
it brings a smile.
And when hear that song
that made me feel so free.
It all brings me back
to the loneliness that sparked
so many dreams.
The sight of the sun is
a fleeting sparkle.
That broad smile hides that lost tear.
And the smell is a memory.
It's a time lost forever.
I can take you there, and show you
but it plays like a movie.
Then leaves me wanting.
Still I long for it.
And lovingly mention it.
Sad but sweet, lonely but hopeful.
Forever long ago.
Take me back to this place
that defined me.
What would I change?
For some reason, this video always fills me with the saddest nostalgia. If you have the time, give it a listen if you're sad. Somehow even though it makes me sad, it lifts me up at the same time.
