Loom bands were the cool stuff for grade school aged kids in 2014.
We were late to the loom bands phenomenon but since we got these goodies at a friend's garage sale and a friend also gave us a rainbow loom, we were game to try it out.
My 6 year old was excited, separating and sorting the different colored bands patiently with her lolo (grandfather) as she planned out the colors she wanted to use on the bracelets she would make for each of us. Her little brother always messes the colored bands up...eventually.
We spend a lot of time sorting her loom bands and pairing up the colors to create loom band bracelets. She gives them to her cousins, aunts and uncles.
One day, she turned to me and said "Can I sell my loom bands, mommy?"
She said just like a lemonade stand, she would put up a loom bands stand in our front yard and sell her bracelets. She started thinking about how much it would be per bracelet and I asked her back, how many time do you spend making just ONE? She decided it would be Php 100 or $2 each.
She thought about it and later on said that I should help her go door to door around the block to sell her loom bands.
Business strategy from a 6 year old.
Aside from the bracelets she made, she liked making charms. I let her watch the youtube videos to follow the instructions for these two charms but later on we continued our youtube ban for the little ones. See here she made the strawberry charm using the Rainbow loom with a little supervision.
My daughter loved making simple loom band bracelets that she learned to make from her cousin. We have also tried making the more complicated and thick, colored ones from the instructional leaflet that comes with her Garage sale loom bands called the Monster Tail- Rainbow loom set.
