Given the massive hurricanes in the US so far this season - I wanted to share an interesting 'minor' detail of electric cars. While it is not a good idea to submerge any electronic device in water (I've previously dropped a mobile phone briefly in water only to slowly watch it stop working), it seems like this Tesla Model S was at least able to get through a flooded tunnel.

I would be very curious to know how much water exposure is too much. There are reports of Hurricane Harvey Teslas being totalled (as with all cars) as they sat in water for long periods.

Elon Musk has commented in the past about a future amphibious vehicle for a 'niche' market. I don't think we can claim this as amphibious, but at least the driver was able to get through the tunnel. The fact that no air intake is needed for electric cars (and no combustion occurs), does open the interesting opportunities for future flood prone regions.
