The last day in Hatyai | Ecency

I visited Hatyai in January 2023. Fond memories.

As you step onto the streets of Hatyai, you'll notice the cool breeze and the serene atmosphere with not many tourist. This is the city where you can be part of the local community and see everything from what the locals see. This is the city where I did not feel as though I was a tourist. I drove around the city.

Kim Yong market

A must visit if you do make your way to Hatyai. A bustling market in the heart of the city where you can try out the different type of food that locals here enjoy. The vendors here are nice enough to not rip off tourist. I guess, there aren't many here. So you can get about anything for the tourist price.

Driving around Hatyai

I rented a car for two days and drove around the city of Hatyai for two days just to get the feeling of driving as a local. It's quite an adrenaline rush. Motorcycles everywhere. Cows on the road.

Local glutinous rice treat

This delightful dessert is also sold in Malaysia except that its for the Chinese New Year and not for normal occasions. They make them fresh here. In Malaysia, it's already prepacked. Sealed and ready to eat.

The ambience here

Everyone busy buying food at the local market. This is where you can try out local food and peek into the life of a local. The sweet Thai mango rice is aplenty in these markets. The market is divided into different sections, each selling a particular type of food.

Except that what is sold here is different. This whole market is easy to spot. If you drive around the city, you'll see this market.

The traffic here is slow

Everyone in Hatyai looks quite chill and not in a rush to get anywhere. So you'll be able to enjoy your stroll around the market. The sellers also won't be pressuring you to buy anything here if you don't intend to do so.

Motorcycle vendors

There are many motorcycle vendors here in Hatyai and you'll be able to see them as you walk around the city.

It was also time to get back to Malaysia. I guess, holidays are there to get some exploring done and also the best thing is to take pictures of the place and have great memories of the place. I will be planning a visit again in the future.
