Sarawak loves building huge. The largest museum is found in Sarawak. The largest wet market is found in Sarawak too. I was on my way to a night trip to Penang so in between that, I had lots of time in between to explore Kuching. ✈️✈️✈️ The first thing we did when we landed was to visit Borneo Cultures museum. Opened to the public somewhere last year. I just love history and anything historical. So this is a place that I love to visit. This is a part by part post of this museum. I am going to spend sometime to write about this museum.

I am still amazed at how gigantic these two poles are. Super huge. Super duper huge. These were used by the ancient tribes of Borneo for burial purposes. Preserved. A lot of the artifacts in this museum were extracted as they were. It's really amazing how big that burial pole looks when you are in front of it looking at it in person. This museum host a lot of Sarawak's history. There are also human remains too. Real human remains. Some of Borneo's tribes used to be headhunters. No worries, they don't do that now.
Everything displayed well and placed nicely with a nice description
Kuching has many museums. The other museum that I visited last year when I was in Kuching was the cat museum. Everything inside the museum were cat themed.
There are five floors and one of the exhibits here is dedicated to pollution and the impacts of pollution
On display, rubbish that have been collected from the ocean. While, I was there, there was a school trip and there were lots of school students here touring the museum. It's great that the school made an effort to bring the students here to have a look at this particular exhibit.
The river section
Education starts young. Maybe someday, when these kids grow up, they would learn to love the environment. Enjoy the nature and preserve nature as it is.

In front, you can see the view of the DUN. The DUN is Sarawak's legislative building. The bills are passed in this building. An amazing place to discuss about what laws should be passed.

If you take your time, I think you could take about five hours here. Looking at each particular display set at the museum. The best thing about this museum is that they don't restrict you from using your camera and snapping photos. Many museums that I've been to, does that. This is one where they let you promote the place. A lot of my action camera memory went to this place. I have a hundred GB worth of footage that was taken here. Amazing how much to see here.
The ticket price is affordable
Having such a huge space, you would have imagined that the tickets were expensive but nope. Affordable even for non Sarawakians. Kuching has lots of nice places to visit and the best thing is that the tickets here are super duper affordable.

Sarawak brought lots of Chinese to work here by the British empire. I guess, I am the third generation or fourth from that generation.

It's quite nice to look at things like this. They spent so much time to curate everything here and write a description that is accurate to the display.

This is still used today for carrying babies too. Hand crafted.

There were not a lot of visitors yet. After a while more people came.
The best thing about visiting places in Sarawak. Not crowded.
Hand woven cloth
Still woven today, these are hand woven clothes that are used in Sarawak even today.
These are real skulls that were taken from longhouses tied in a bundle. In the past, tribes here had wars and each warrior had to bring back a head which was like a trophy. In the past, whenever, I was naughty, my mom would use the headhunter story to scare me. Not practised anymore.
