Hi hi.. how has your day been? Has everything been great? This is the second part of my visit to Songkhla old town. This is the second day of my visit in Hatyai. I am not in Thailand at the moment. I am recounting the time that I was there in Hatyai.
Before heading to Songkhla old town, I was at the Songkhla Zoo, driving around the whole zoo.
Drove my car around and parked. Walked around. This is a beautiful town. Scenic as well as serene. It shares some resemblance with what I would see in Malaysia but yet, somehow, there are some difference. The locals here do not speak chinese at all. Most Thais here do not speak English but they speak Bahasa Melayu (some of them) , the same language as what is spoken in Malaysia. Malaysians usually have to master a lot of language other than English.
A chinese opera mural
It looks like this mural was painted for a while but yet it looks stunning.
An old shop.
Many shops here in Songkhla have lots of memobilias. There are the old pictures on the wall, old antiques. Like walking into a capsule in time. But well maintained. In addition, most restaurants here have an altar where the business owner would casually just take out some joss sticks and start praying.
A wall with lots of faces
Portraits of local faces. I did not manage to look at each of the individual pictures on the wall. On the right is a mural of a lady.
Portrait of Songkhla
A place full of history is a place that enjoys and treasures the local cultures. Instead of having modern art, they have instead on the wall the faces of locals.
We then went to this shop that sold noodles
Unfortunately, not much was left. I guess due to popular demand, most food were already sold out.
The stall. Wow. All those battle scars.
Some walks later and I stumbled upon this shop
I am not sure if this a museum or if someone rented this to display antique. It is just there.
Traditional box and some bird cage
I guess that's what this is. After that, I drove around to look for the sleeping Buddha of Songkhla . You won't miss it. Once you cross the bridge, you'll see this huge statue from afar.
This bridge
This is one of the local tourist spots but at this point of time, I did not see much tourist. It was super hot so I did not spend a lot of time here.
Beautiful walkway
Clean.
Very nice wall art on the wall.
This looks new. I am not sure how old it it.
Thai art
Portrayal of humans. Most art work that I saw here have humans.
I wanted to head to the toilet and saw this art. I wonder what it represents?
I am not here to judge but I'll just enjoy its beauty.
The ultimate squad toilet
This was the first time that I've seen such a squat toilet. In Malaysia, at least the sides are cemented. This is just floating. I did not try it because I wasn't sure it was able to properly squat on it. Imagine doing my business and slipping on the ground.
Hope that you enjoy reading this post. Have a great day ahead. More to come.
