Popular in Malaysia. It's a bit like Barbequed meat but flattened and smoked. This is one of the most popular type of meat that can be bought here in Malaysia. A packet of this usually cost around USD 10 or MYR 40. The meat is usually vacuum packed to reduce bacteria growth.
I think most parts of the world have never seen this before or have seen something similar so I guess, I wanted to share it. Something mundane could be peculiar in another country. The fats are usually not present in the meat maybe due to the processing of it.
Usually in a packet, there are a couple of smaller packs. This makes it more portable and increases shelf life. Other than this, the vacuum packaging makes it easy to give this out as a gift when visiting a relative.
There is also a vegetarian version of this that I've eaten before that taste close to real meat and also cost the same. Usually eaten during festive seasons and sliced into smaller tidbits.
Slightly oily, a bit of saltiness and chewiness of the meat.
Thinly sliced with that perfect shine. The first noticeable thing is the smell when you tear open the packet. The fragrance.
A bite of it gone
Some dark parts are those barbequed parts of the meat.
Mixed it with my rice
The flavours from the minced meat is pretty strong that even when you mix it with plain rice, the rice taste pretty good.
