Good Morning everyone! I was feeling nostalgic today so I Wanted to go back 3 years ago and reminisce about my 1st skydiving experience.😁
So me and a friend of mine had been going back and forth on what to do to cure the boredom of just coming into work, going home, sleeping then rinse and repeat. So I says "hey Jeremy how about we just go jump out of a plane" honestly just joking around. But to my surprise he goes "Oh yeah i have always wanted to do that it sounds like a blast.
Needless to say I was a little surprised. I have ran that idea by several of my friends and I always got some sort of variation on: Are you joking why would I jump out of a perfectly good plane on purpose?😂 Anyways I was ecstatic so we found a place near us and signed up.
Jump to 2 weeks later I'm driving to the place and its out in the middle of nowhere. All I can think at the time is man I hope its no some little rinky dink hole in the wall with a plane held together with spit and scotch tape. LOL But when I finally get there it turns out to be a nice little place that was well maintained. So far not worried at all.
When my buddy gets there we go in and pay then they get us suited up and they run us through the do and don'ts of this little venture we are about to partake in. So far we are both psyched about this whole thing. Next they pull us to the side and take a few pictures of us. The photographer tells us its so we can remember what we were like while still being sane since we haven't jumped out of a plane at 15,000 ft. . (That dude was hilarious🤣)
**(Jeremy on the left , Me on the right)**
Now its time to go to the plane. (getting a little nervous now) We load up on a bus and they take us and about 8 others down the road a piece to the airstrip where they keep there small little plane that has a roll up door in the side of it. I had never seen anything like it that door was so thin. lol. So we all load up and it starts taxing out on the runway.
Here's where it starts to get fun😃. Now we are scooting down the runway and suddenly we are off the ground and my heart goes into my throat. My brain kicks in to overtime and I'm saying to myself "oh you screwed up now Jason you have to do this now!" But I'm keeping my cool on the outside. We are all laughing and joking over the fairly load noise of the little 2 engine plane that we are all packed in.
Let me paint the scene. There are 10 people not including the pilot straddling 2 benches side by side in this small plane. you can here the roaring of the engines and the wind blasting through the cracks of this thin see through door that in a short amount of time your going to be jumping out of. Not to mention you can feel gravity trying to pull you back to earth because your climbing rapidly to somewhere around 15,000 ft. and I keep catching myself looking down at the watch like device on my right wrist that tells you how high up you really are, and the windows and doors to see the ground leaving me far far behind. (super nervous now)
Well the time finally comes and the piolet yells "Were at the jump point." I stop breathing. A little slip of a girl throws the door open wide and everyone starts rustling to get in a position to scoot up on the bench to the door and fly out of this tiny plane. As I'm staring at that door that little slip of a girl I mentioned waves and cannonballs out the door like there was a swimming pool 2 feet below her. All of a sudden all the people in front of us are just filling out like it was nothing. Something clicks in my head and I think everyone had such happy looks on there faces and didn't hesitate one sec. I can so totally do this what am i afraid of. And just like that I have no fear, no nervousness and no hesitation. I was so ready for this!! So I sidle up to the door and look down at probably one of the most amazing and wicked cool sites i have seen in my life at that time.
Its clouds upon clouds with just specks of the earth peaking through. My guide yells "Are you ready?"
I Yell back "Lets do this!!" and we just kind of roll fall out.
The felling is hard to explain. There wasn't really a feeling of falling like there are in those dreams you have sometimes.(you know the ones right?) It's just Speed, a rushing of wind , and a force on your face, arms, and legs that feels like your standing in a powerful gust of wind.
We went through the clouds amazingly fast . They where cool and felt just like a dense fog. Even though there was a lot of wind it was strangely muted. Then we burst through the clouds and it was sunny and green and jaw dropping.
We start spinning left and I use my arms to spin back to the right then back to the left. Laughing and yelling while I'm speeding down back to earth. Then I remember to look at the altimeter on my wrist to check my altitude.
Well would you look at the time!!
I see that we are the right height to pull our ripcord. It was over way to soon. As I find the cord and pull it felt like a pair of hands jerked me up by the seat of my pants. lol
We lazily floated back down to earth with this view. Just taking in the sights and the perfect weather even doing a trick or to with the parachute.
When we finally glided in for a landing just as smooth as you please. I Decided right then and there that this had to happen again . which it did . and let me tell you there's nothing else like it . Everyone who jumped gathered around some picnic tables waiting on our ride back to the hanger where we started this amazingly fun but short trip from the ground to the heavens and back again.
Anyways thanks to all of you for walking down memory lane with me. Happy hiving and have a Blessed day!!
