¿Cuál es el auto de tus sueños y cuánto cuesta adquirir ese auto en tu país?

This is my entry to the OCD community contest:

What is your dream car and how much does it cost to acquire that car in your country?

Desde niña siempre me gustaron los carros grandes, camionetas 4x4 y de ese estilo por lo espaciosas y cómodas que son, para mí: el carro perfecto.

En Venezuela tienen un costo aproximado de 10.000 dólares de segunda mano y hasta 25.000 de consecionario.

Since I was a child I have always liked big cars, 4x4 trucks and that kind of cars because of how spacious and comfortable they are, for me: the perfect car.

In Venezuela they cost about 10,000 dollars second hand and up to 25,000 from a dealer.

Mi esposo y yo compartiamos el mismo gusto y teníamos las mismas ganas de adquirir una camioneta, aún con lo difícil que está la situación en Venezuela, nuestra meta era ahorrar en dólares para comprarla.

Empezamos a viajar a los llanos a comprar carne y queso al mayor para vender en la capital durante dos años viajando en bus todas las semanas sin descanso, ya teníamos ahorros pero no lo suficiente para la camioneta, decidimos comprar un carro pequeño para comenzar y viajar más cómodos.

My husband and I shared the same taste and had the same desire to buy a truck, even with the difficult situation in Venezuela, our goal was to save in dollars to buy it.

We started traveling to the plains to buy meat and cheese wholesale to sell in the capital for two years traveling by bus every week without rest, we already had savings but not enough for the truck, we decided to buy a small car to start and travel more comfortable.

Buscamos en páginas de ventas de carros y los que nos gustaban no alcanzaba el dinero, un día llamo mi cuñado y nos comenta de un corsa 2 puertas que estaban vendiendo y estaba en óptimas condiciones.

Viajamos a otra ciudad a ver el carro y quedamos enamorados, el carrito estaba hermoso, la latonería estaba intacta, el motor supuestamente estaba recién hecho, los cauchos nuevecitos y lo mejor de todo estaba a un muy buen precio, sin dudarlo de una vez lo compramos.

We looked in car sales pages and the ones we liked were not enough money, one day my brother in law called and told us about a 2 door corsa that they were selling and it was in excellent condition.

We traveled to another city to see the car and we fell in love, the car was beautiful, the brasswork was intact, the engine was supposedly freshly made, the tires were brand new and best of all it was at a very good price, without hesitation we bought it at once.

Nos fuimos bien alegres con el carrito, a las dos horas de camino, empezó la primera falla, se apagaba a cada rato y costaba encender, pensábamos que era la batería. Tardamos 10 horas en llegar a dónde íbamos cuando regularmente son 4 horas.

Al día siguiente llevamos el carro a un taller de mecánica y explican que es el alternador, se solucionó ese problema satisfactoriamente.

We left very happy with the cart, two hours into the trip, the first failure started, it was turning off all the time and it was hard to turn on, we thought it was the battery. It took us 10 hours to get where we were going when it usually takes 4 hours.

The next day we took the car to a mechanic shop and they explained that it was the alternator, the problem was solved satisfactorily.

Nuestro primer viaje en el carrito fue una locura, el carro se apagó y no quiso encender más, se había dañado el tripoide y eso no permitía que la caja arrancara, nos remolcaron hasta nuestro destino.

Se llevó el carro a otro mecánico y aparentemente había quedado bien, nos regresamos a la capital, en cada hueco que caíamos el carro se espichaba, había perdido fuerzas el carro y le costaba moverse en las subidas.

Our first trip in the car was crazy, the car turned off and did not want to start again, the tripoid was damaged and that did not allow the box to start, we were towed to our destination.

The car was taken to another mechanic and apparently it was fine, we returned to the capital, in every hole that we fell the car spiked, the car had lost strength and it was hard to move on the climbs.

Llegamos y lo primero que hicimos fue llevarlo a otro mecánico, el mecánico sugirio que había que hacerle el motor, se le hizo y el carro quedó fino.

Por fin íbamos a disfrutarlo, fuimos a la Colonia Tovar, playas, parques, trabajamos con la carne y el queso, para todos lados salíamos, pero en todos los viajes pasaba algo, se espichaba, se recalentaba, se apagaba, había que prenderlo empujado, pero siempre nos llevaba a nuestro destino (desangrándose, pero siempre llegábamos), ahí fue donde mi suegra lo bautizó como "El Guerrerito" porque a pesar de todo siempre nos traía a casa, el carrito fiel.

We arrived and the first thing we did was to take it to another mechanic, the mechanic suggested that we had to do the engine, it was done and the car was fine.

Finally we were going to enjoy it, we went to Colonia Tovar, beaches, parks, we worked with the meat and cheese, everywhere we went, but on every trip something happened, it spiked, it overheated, it turned off, we had to push it, but it always took us to our destination (bleeding, but we always arrived), that was where my mother in law baptized it as "El Guerrerito" because in spite of everything it always brought us home, the faithful car.

El Guerrerito seguía con su problema que se espichaba mucho cuando caíamos en un hueco y decidimos cambiar todos los cauchos y rines por un número más grande, efectivamente se solucionó el problema, problema solucionado.

Le empezó un nuevo problema, un consumo excesivo de aceite, un litro de aceite había que echarle diario.
Se le volvió a hacer el motor porque otro mecánico dijo que lo habían hecho mal.

The Guerrerito was still with his problem that was spichaba much when we fell into a hole and decided to change all the tires and rims for a larger number, indeed the problem was solved, problem solved.

A new problem started, excessive oil consumption, a liter of oil had to be poured daily. The engine was redone because another mechanic said they had done it wrong.

Una recomendación a todas las personas que decidan comprar un vehículo nuevo, no se dejen llevar solamente porque está bonito de latonería, de cauchos, siempre vayan con un buen mecánico, que el mecánico revise el tren delantero, que no bote humo, que no tenga ningún bote de aceite, que revise la caja, los amortiguadores, las revisiones básicas que hay que hacer antes de la compra.

En lo personal, mis gustos por la camioneta grande cambiaron, solo me gustaba el Corsa dos puertas, empecé a seguir páginas para conocer más sobre el. Así que ahora el carro de mis sueños es tener ese Corsa en óptimas condiciones y bien bonito en todas sus partes.

A recommendation to all the people who decide to buy a new vehicle, do not get carried away only because it is nice of brass, rubber, always go with a good mechanic, that the mechanic checks the front axle, that it does not smoke, that it does not have any oil can, that he checks the box, the shock absorbers, the basic revisions that must be done before the purchase.

Personally, my tastes for the big truck changed, I only liked the Corsa two doors, I started to follow pages to learn more about it. So now the car of my dreams is to have that Corsa in good condition and very nice in all its parts.

Actualmente se encuentra en el taller esperando que tengamos el dinero para ajustar todos los detalles, sale un aproximado de 1000$ considerando los sueldos en Venezuela, esto se nos hace difícil de reunir ya que cobramos aproximadamente 50$ mensuales entre sueldo y otros trabajos extras que hacemos.

Aunque el costo es bastante alto para el tipo de carro, para nosotros, tiene un gran valor restaurarlo. Esperamos reunir el dinero y poder arreglar nuestro Guerrerito, y seguir acumulando historias.

At the moment it is in the workshop waiting for us to have the money to adjust all the details, it costs about $1000 considering the salaries in Venezuela, this is difficult for us to get together since we charge about $50 a month between salary and other extra work we do.

Although the cost is quite high for the type of car, for us, it has a great value to restore it. We hope to raise the money and be able to fix our Guerrerito, and continue accumulating stories.
