Close your eyes and breath in slowly through the nose and out again slowly, also through the nose. Notice every sensation. Any attachments causing suffering can bubble up in the mind. Worry, stress, identity, conditional existence… they can keep you from living your life in its best form. Tools exist to be less encumbered, if you’re ready to do the work.

Last night I had the honor and privilege of spending a few hours with Shayalpa Tenzin Rinposhe who you can learn more about here: https://www.buddhafield.us/shyalpa-rinpoche

He asked me what is meditation for me, and I said some stuff about clearing the mind and whatnot. His answer was far more interesting. It’s about training the mind to be fully present and activated for the given moment, whatever it might be. In any situation, the mind perfectly attuned to the requirements of that situation.

He was to host a meditation event which was cancelled and rescheduled for Sunday night. Since Brock included me in a small text group about his arrival, I somewhat boldly asked if I could show up anyway and just hang out. Brock welcomed me to do so and it turns out it was just Shayalpa and myself, in wonderful conversation. I feel so deeply grateful, lucky, blessed, and more to enjoy these moments.

I’m going to read Sayalpa’s book which he was kind enough to gift me and look into his Peace Sanctuary project he’s been working on for nearly ten years:

https://peacesanctuary.org/

“The Universal Peace Sanctuary is being constructed on the sacred ground where Queen Mayadevi gave birth to Prince Siddharta.”

Sayalpa’s message: a temple for peace starts within and the path can include giving even just one dollar unconditionally, feeling within us the love of a mother for a child. So often we give with conditions. What does this feel like instead?
