I can still remember waking up from a deep sleep when the doors of the coach opened after arriving in Belgrade (Serbia). And I don't like that at all, because I like it more when I can watch a rural countryside transfer first to the suburbs and then to the city on a bus ride. It also serves me for orientation, because I like to know where I am. So I briefly packed my seven things in my hand and staggered rather sleepily to the open bus door and found myself, still with the slight fear in my bones of already being in a bus depot, in a new strange, lively city. And I felt right at home from the start, even if still a little sleepy. Even the search for a greasy breakfast and a hostel with a friendly receptionist and residents turned out to be less strenuous than expected.
Now, with this small selection of images taken with my Nikon D5000 and edited with Snapseed, I'll take you on my tour of the city, which is still unknown to me. First I climbed the nearby hill and busy park of the Belgrade Fortress to get a better overview of the city, and from where I also spotted the big Sava Bridge over the Danube. Then down on the banks of one of the longest rivers in Europe, I saw that the Danube was carrying a lot of water, so many restaurants installed on houseboats had closed. On the bus ride to Belgrade, we were hit by a thunderstorm with lots of rain at a rest stop the night before. And in the New Belgrade district, I caught sight of and observed many people, across genders and generations, exchanging football trading cards. In the evening, I wanted to go to a hardcore concert of the Turkish band "HATRED BARRICADE" from Kadiköy (Istanbul), as I had just come from that direction. However, because communication in English and with hands and feet while inquiring with the local residents about the location of the concert turned out to be more difficult than I had thought, the concert was already over by the time I reached my destination after several trips by bus. But I did reach it.
Now I asked myself the question when writing this post, how many pictures should one actually
should I show per post? Or should I rather publish two posts about the same topic with fewer pictures? Can you help me find the answer?
