Is it better to do something and suck in it, or rather is it better to not do it at all? What would be your natural respond at this point? I am curious, please let me know in comments :-)
Here is the analogy which I like:
It does not really matter, what you choose to do, the chance that you'll got it right first time doing it is close to 0.
Imagine that you are at the point A and you want to get to the point B (your goal). The shortest path from A to B is straight line. Problem is that you don't know which steps to take to walk the straight line. So you take some first 10 steps to the point B and then you realise that you didn't quite walk the straight line. You were little bit off. So what you do? You take another 10 steps, this time with the knowledge of previous experience, and your way to point B just got closer to the straight line.
This my friends is called learning process. And you do not learn if you do not take the action. (Actually you will learn that if you do not take the action you will be in the same spot tomorrow, or that you are decaying.)
So is it better to take the action despite the fact that you will suck first time doing it? Yes!! Look at my Instagram! I do so many mistakes while trying to write in English, that sometimes it is even comical.
But, there are two amazing things happening while writing these articles, or posting those posts on Instagram:
(1) People do actually want to help me. When somebody point out your mistake, that person is actually trying to help you. I know it might seems like they want to attack you, but in majority of cases the opposite is true. So thank you everybody, who is pointing out my mistakes, I am really grateful for that!
(2) I get better every day. My English improves. The way I think also improves. If you never stumbled upon compound interest, check out this article, you will be amazed how much you can improve in a year!
So as Grand Cardone would say (the author of a great book called 10x rule):
It is better to suck and be seen than not be seen at all.
You will suck first time doing something. Be ready for a feedback. Lear from it. And be prepared to suck again. Success will come. Inevitably.
Thank you for reading. You are awesome!
