If you keep waiting until everything is set or until you feel absolutely ready before you take any step, you may be stuck at a point for long. As a matter of fact, the perfect time you are waiting for to start may not come. This is why you have to start anyway. There are things you can only achieve by starting not by waiting until the perfect moment. After all, what is regarded is actions, which lead to results, not intentions. You may have a brilliant idea, a goal, or what you want to achieve, but until you make a move to start, it may only remain a dream. A lot of people who have achieved greatness did not wait to start at the supposed perfect time, but they started with what they have.

I have watched kids learn how to walk and I have learnt a couple of things from it. The kid does not wait until they are very certain that they will not fall before they start to walk. They take the first step, which they may stumble and fall, but they will quickly rise up and then take another step. They will also repeat the same process. But with each attempt, they will build strength, confidence, and balance. This is a similar way that life works. More often than not, you will only gain the confidence, the experience, the knowledge, and the courage you need after you have started, not before you start. You may not know the level of strength within you until you have started.
One of the things that keep people waiting for the supposed perfect time or for when they are ready is fear. Fear has a way of making the first step look much complicated and bigger than it actually is. Fear can even make you to imagine what could go wrong. You may be afraid of failure, criticisms, making mistakes, rejection, etc. But what you should understand is that staying in one place carries a potentially bigger cost. Each day you spend waiting for the perfect moment is a day you would have used to learn something new, gather more experience, improve on yourself, and get closer to your dream. You learn by doing, not by waiting.
It is worthy to note that you do not have to see the entire journey or figure out the whole route first before you take a step. If you want to start business for example, you do not have to wait until every potential investor have brought in their support, you can start with what you have. If you want a change of career for example, you should be concerned about updating your CV and applying for a new job. If you want to learn a new skill online, the first step will be to open the first lesson. You see, it is the first step that will lead to the subsequent steps that you need. Without the first step, other steps may not happen, and you will not arrive at your destination.

Do not underestimate the power that is resident in the first step. It may look tiny, but it can open up opportunities that you were not aware of. A small step that is taken continuously will eventually lead to some massive results. The same thing that looked insignificant today may be the foundation upon which a lot of amazing things will be built in the future. So just start. The confidence you need will be built when you start. I have come to understand that confidence is actually a result of action, not a requirement for action. When you take a step and overcome an uncertainty for example, you will discover what you are capable of. Even if you make mistake, you will become stronger and learn from it to get more knowledge.
The truth is that there will always be a reason for you to wait. For example; you may not have the adequate resources, you may not have the required knowledge, you may not have the whole support you need, or you may not even feel confident enough. But if you keep looking at the reason to wait, you will never start. The need to start should be stronger than the reasons to keep waiting. The first step may be flawed, it may not be perfect, and it may even come with a lot of mistakes, but it will open you up to a lot of possibilities that you never knew existed.
