Our city reservoir looks clean

Today, precisely on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, the air temperature is so bright and beautiful that it makes me pull my cellphone to capture a situation where this location is the territory of the traditional fishermen in my region.

My interest in this location and I made it as a photo object because I saw the difference in temperature or weather today which really amazed my view.

Why....

Because the conditions inside are not filled with trash or other dirty objects, I don't know why this happened because haven't visited the area in the last 2 months.

As I recall, around the beginning of this year, there were a lot of garbage standing on top of the water, which could damage the ecosystem in it or could affect the water in the small river.

Pusong Reservoir before today

However, today the conditions are very clean and beautiful and comfortable if you are in it, the atmosphere will be more alive when blue clouds also brighten up the beautiful atmosphere on this day.

Seeing the location that looks different, I remember how it was previously converted into a large dam as a means of collecting rainwater or water from people's homes, so that it was previously called a water dam, but now it is called the Pusong Lhokseumawe Reservoir.

His name was Alue before it was changed to a reservoir

Around 1995 this location still looks very natural as a fishing field around or as a location for looking for small fish or crabs and other foods that have lived and developed for tens and even hundreds of years ago, local residents who live in that location mention as Alue. Alue itself is a sentence in the Acehnese language if it means flow of flowing water.

As the name implies, every stream of water that comes from residents' houses comes from three villages such as :

1. Keudèe Aceh Village
2. Mongeudong Village
3. Pusong Lama Village.

Meanwhile, Pusong Lama Lhokseumawe Village itself is the main village where the Alue location is located or now it is called the City Reservoir.

So based on the area the city reservoir is in the village of Pusong Lama Lhokseumawe Aceh, so it is called the Pusong Reservoir and sometimes people call it the City Reservoir.

When the location is transferred as a water storage location or as a location for collecting waste water from the houses of residents who live in the city area, the livelihood land for small fishermen is no longer available or is automatically lost. Previously, the location for catching fish was no longer there, now it has changed or has been converted into another function.

The size of the reservoir is very large and its downstream part is directly connected to the high seas, now a very large change has been made in the shape of three squares according to the clasps of the three villages mentioned above.

The location was changed back to a fish holding area

In 2000, or to be precise the economy in the region had made people lose their jobs due to changes in laws in our area, so some of the Pusong community or indigenous people in the region changed their profession from trading to traditional fishermen so that the location of the reservoir with a size of tens of hectares was changed by local residents as location of pet fish storage or a fish breeding center.

So that when you visit the area while jogging in the afternoon or other activities, you will see thousands of fish breeding equipment that fill the reservoir location.

So in an instant the community has reclaimed their long lost territory, although it is not as natural as before, it can still be used with existing provisions.

The local government does not prohibit it because according to them the work has no effect on the ecosystem in it or as a means of collecting rainwater and household wastewater so that floods do not occur in the City area.

So do not be surprised if you visit the area, you always see small wooden boats and thousands of fishing gear (Keuramba) which always pass or fill the reservoir location, most of which are located in the western and eastern regions, but in the northern part it has never been disturbed by every traditional fisherman, because they know that in this area there are thousands of mangrove trees as nests for other flying birds.

Then where did the trash come from in the past few years

To the south of the reservoir there is a row of small stalls built by local residents, the location is built regularly and extends to around 1000 small stalls selling snacks and other traditional food for the needs of visitors to the reservoir at every activity on a daily

So every visitor does not heed the rules set by the government for disposing of trash in the location that has been provided, but there are people who always violate these rules until they throw it out of place.

Gradually the garbage falls into the reservoir location so that the location is polluted as described above.

However, today the location of the reservoir which is located in our area as well as the location of a tourist destination today is clean, beautiful and radiant.
